This position involved conducting customer Quality runoffs to qualify crankshaft and camshaft grinders according to Statistical Process Control runoff tolerances set forth by the customer. This included setting up and calibrating gauging, either customer supplied or furnished by Landis. Gauging was linked to a computer with Quantum Data Collection Software to capture data for statistics. Characteristics checked included crankshaft main bearing journals, pin journals, post diameter, flange diameter, and other characteristics. Also camshaft main bearing journals, lobe base circle diameter, as well as lift and timing data. All data was compiled with Statistical Process Control Software and presented to the customer for process validation to prove the machine was capable.Also another duty in my job was to verify the machine paint before shipment, to include correct color as specified by the customer, and to inspect finish. I have the ability to inspect and am familiar with different with different types of Adhesion Tests, to include wet and dry Tape Test, and Scratch Test. Also have done Thickness Test of paint. Also familiar with paint finishes and inspection to look for blisters, runs, sags and overspray.
