Conducts routine chemical, physical, and microbiological tests; prepares reagents and standards; learns and assists to evaluate data and prepare reports. Collects data related to water quality analyses. Learns and assists with analysis and interpretation of water quality data. Assists with preparation of technical reports. As part of the Water Quality Team, maintain databases, manage records, and track compliance. Maintain and comply with all water quality and environmental regulations and programs within the district. Responsible for preparing reports from databases to support the daily activities and long term goals of the department.

Performs all of the duties listed under Grade I, Grade II and most of Grade III; in addition, responsible for the General Physical/Chemistry Laboratory’s day to day operation, testing over 250 drinking water samples weekly, by engaging multiple analysis and instrumentation, along with the appropriate QA/QC protocol, to ensure reliable data. Completed data is then reported into LIMS to satisfy the compliance monitoring that is submitted monthly to SWRCB. Responsibility includes biannual analysis of third party blind Performance Evaluation samples to maintain laboratory’s certification of all analysis under my operation. Annually update standard operating procedures (SOPs) in accordance to TNI parameters. Trained and knowledgeable in Chemical and Organic laboratory analysis. Prepare work orders, monitor daily operations of LIMS database, export data for interpretation, and review test and quality control results of other personnel. Consults clients concerning test requests in reference to metal testing, emphasizing lead and copper analysis.Coordinator of AB 746 monitoring and reporting of Lead in public schools for the City of Long Beach. Coordinated the Triennial Lead & Copper Rule compliance monitoring in Long Beach, in 2019. Currently preparing to be in compliance with EPA’s Revised Lead & Copper Rule monitoring year 2022.

Worked under the supervision of Professor Wang, Ph.D., whose primary research focuses on understanding the molecular processes in somatosensory neurons and their stimuli to the environment, using Zebrafish as the model organism. We developed and maintained ideal conditions for zebrafish, at all developmental stages. Used various molecular techniques such as prepping multiple buffers, and specific agents for DNA/RNA procedures. We constantly performed multiple trials of gel electrophoresis, mRNA isolation, RT-PCR, TOPO cloning, Inoculation, Restriction Enzyme Digestion, and In-Situ Hybridization. Using In-Situ Hybridization we observed specific gene expressions at different developmental time periods in Zebrafish embryos.
