I am proud and fortunate to lead Campden BRI, with over 370 staff providing technical, scientific, regulatory, information and training support to the food, drink and allied industries worldwide.I was appointed Director General in 2009, but have been with the Company since 1986. Following a degree in Food Science ad a PhD in food microbiology, both at Queen’s University, Belfast, I joined Campden as a microbiologist.Since that time I have had the opportunity to undertake a number of roles within the business. I have enjoyed the challenges these bring, particularly in balancing the scientific and technical challenges alongside a commercial business. This has allowed me to travel and to collaborate with a wide range of businesses, universities and other academic groups Government departments and funding bodies, both nationally and internationally.At Campden BRI, our mission is the practical application of technical excellence and throughout my career I have always enjoyed seeing my work being directly applied. Our success is only achieved through our staff and so staff development is critical. I am privileged to have the opportunity to coach staff to help them reach their potential.
