Steve Leung is a Stanford PhD, Lead Software Engineer at Orchard Ultrasound Innovation. He possess expertise in matlab, programming, research, analysis, java and 14 more skills. Colleagues describe him as "I really enjoyed working with Steve during the five years that we were lab-mates at Stanford. His commitment to building the workplace community and his friendly nature made a noticeable difference in our lab. In addition to being lab-mates Steve and I co-authored a couple of publications together. In this work I was particularly impressed by 1) his ability to quickly understand a new skill and make an impact and 2) his careful attention to detail that made it a lot easier to work with him. A great example of this was a simulation project we worked on together. The goal of the project was to simulate the propagation of ultrasound through the human skull and predict the characteristics of the resulting focal spot. This was research into whether simulations could be used to help surgeons make informed decisions during focused ultrasound brain treatments. Steve didn't have a lot of prior familiarity with the algorithm or the particular code we were using at the beginning of the project and we were working with code that had very little in the way of comments and was not particularly readable. Despite this, Steve quickly learned the underlying math and physics and soon transformed the code into a well commented, readable, and versioned system. As we began putting together results Steve would always send me well thought out and relevant figures that I was able to quickly understand. I would jump at the chance to work with Steve again." and "Steve and I worked together to design and implement a software tool called Maestro, for research scientists to optimize parallelization and planning of experiments. We wrote the app using Django/python, with a jQuery frontend. From the start, Steve was an excellent partner and software lead. He is detail-oriented, and would always precisely and efficiently specify the desired behavior and appropriate abstraction. He is organized and meticulous, and made effective choices of frameworks and software tools to improve our process, and he is a skilled communicator with a penchant for just the right amount of documentation to make future work easier. I want to highlight in particular his remarkable drive towards self-improvement. Steve was always (successfully!) looking for new ways to get even better. He is hard working and curious and seems to have deepened a new skillset every time we talk. His work towards bettering himself is constantly an inspiration. Steve is easy to work with and made it enjoyable to get together and design or write code. He's a rare combination of easy going and infectiously attentive to process and detail. He helped me become a better software developer, and also taught me a lot about the human and project management side of software development. I immensely enjoyed working with him and hope for a chance to do so again."
