I’ve been interested in data my entire life. Whether it’s hiking, birds, or cheese, I’ve always had a desire to discover the underlying patterns that are invisible to most people.My BSc and MSc degrees in biological sciences taught me how to test my hypotheses with data. I learned that a GPS tracker on the back of a bird is not just about location; it can tell you speed, acceleration, body positioning, temperature, and more. I’ve used the same technology to record and analyse over 1500 kilometres of my own hikes on five different continents.As a biologist, I’ve always been interested in taking care of the planet. Contributing to sustainable food supply chains is one way to accomplish this goal. This led me to my current job at Lindenhoff, a company where they are passionate about quality food from sustainable sources. I was hired to manage the cheese department and be in charge of purchasing. I started out working with an old-fashioned ERP system. But due to my scientific background and interest in data analysis and engineering, I got the opportunity to be responsible for the integration of a newer, more modern ERP system (Claever).At this stage I’m responsible for engineering and implementing new features to automate processes in our supply chain. In addition I’m in charge of the food safety management system.
