• Part of the Digital Hierarchical Storage Manager (HSM) team. I designed and implemented the OpenVMS file system driver components of HSM. The file system driver allows transparent migration of files between more expensive lower capacity disk and cheaper higher capacity media subsystems. This was done without the need for online disk stub files, which is a unique implementation in the industry.• Led a small team through several additional releases of the Digital File Optimizer (DFO).

• Developer on the team producing Digital’s disk defragmentation product, known as the Digital File Optimizer (DFO). As part of this effort, I designed and implemented an industry leading free space consolidation algorithm.
