Responsible for the development, integration and test of embedded system software for the Celox SCx192, a fully redundant carrier class IP services switch. The SCx192 is a highly scalable, broadband network traffic aggregator, capable of supporting millions of subscribers. It has a highly distributed and parallel architecture built with a custom ASIC chipset, PowerPC 750 Microprocessors, an IBM Switch Fabric and a proprietary embedded operating system.Led distributed embedded software development teams of 25 engineers and managers located in Massachusetts, Missouri and India. Staffed teams to meet business requirements, created project plans (budget and schedule), prioritized tasks, tracked progress and reviewed internal and external product documentation. Initiated and managed sustaining and configuration management functions, balancing resources between new feature development and sustaining efforts.Defined development, integration, test, release and bug tracking processes for the software teams. Monitored and enforced compliance to these processes.Delivered routing protocols (BGP4, OSPF, IS-IS, RIP) and MPLS protocols (LDP, RSVP). Code initially ported from third-party stacks (Inverness, NextHop, Meridian), then modified to support scale requirements, management via SNMP MIBs, VRFs, route maps, route redistribution, traffic engineering and MPLS/BGP VPNs. BGP routing engine completely re-written, and OSPF Dijkstra algorithm staged in order to meet the scale requirements of the SCx192.Delivered network management components (SNMP agents, MIBs, CLI), and infrastructure components (inter-processor communication, fault management, event logging) in support of the entire SCx192 software stack.Delivered simulation and automated test tools/scripts to aid in the development, integration and design verification of software in the complex distributed operating environment of the SCx192.
