Initially working as Programme Manager - Nepal (November 2014 - March 2016), I had responsibility for the management and recruitment of a team of Swiss based volunteers, liaison with the Regional Office and staff in Kathmandu along with planning, operational oversight of the programme, focusing on sustainable agriculture, gender and livelihoods in the Mountain communities of Dhading, Humla and Rasuwa. This program aims to sustainably improve food security and income of poor and disadvantaged mountain communities in these Nepalese districts by increasing and diversifying agricultural productivity with eco-friendly practices and by promoting market access and regional trade. Activities such as the construction of production facilities and storage, provision of appropriate farming equipment, and agricultural and entrepreneurial training for farmers are implemented. These projects focus on the preservation of the environment and climate change by promoting sustainable agricultural practices and increasing the role of women and ethnic minorities in the implementation of said practices. In addition, the promotion of agriculture as a sustainable and productive activity will curb the rural exodus by creating viable jobs in targeted mountain communities. For these projects, Norlha partners with local grassroots organizations to directly serve 900 families and indirectly serve 5’012 persons living in three distinct districts of Nepal.In addition, coordinating post earthquake recovery in the summer of 2015 to support the recovery of our communities in Dhading and Rasuwa and tackling issues of WASH, education, shelter, nutrition and trauma.I continue to work within the Operations Team supporting colleagues with projects in Nepal, Bhutan and China/Tibet.

The IDCN is a local and informal network formed to facilitate job search and career information sharing amongst the partners of its expatriate employees searching for a job in the regionMy role was to work in a multicultural and multidisciplinary team of volunteers to organise events within the Lake Geneva area. This has included managing application process for the IDCN event at Parker in June and supporting the October event hosted by BSL.

In this senior management position within the local education authority I had a range of responsibilities across the formal and informal education sectors. A key function was to implement the “Community Relations, Equality & Diversity in Education” policy across schools and youth service in Belfast. This included managing a budget, facilitating in-service training and running a grant scheme. In addition, I managed the 'Inclusion & Diversity Team'​ made up of youth workers tasked to reach out to minority groups across the city and the Curriculum Team that provided and supports in-service and accredited training to youth workers and young people. I had responsibility for the Duke of Edinburgh's Award in Belfast, managed a dedicated worker and had the formal role of Award Verifier. I also acted as the Youth Service 'Child Protection Officer' responding to crisis situations on a 24/7 basis.In addition I represented the board on two regional education panels (CRED and Child Protection/Risk Management). The post involves strategic inter-agency work with other Education Authorities, Police, Youth Justice Agency, Probation, Department of Education, Office of the First Minister and Deputy First Minister & Department of Justice, Health and local Government. Following my own professional interests I have also led the development of exemplar international youth projects including “Leadership in a Diverse Society” (Malaysia and Cambodia 2012, 2013 & 2014) and the Belfast School of Music in its drumming tour to Senegal (2013).
