Niagara Electric was an assembly plant for electrical cabinets and my responsibility was to obtain local (North American) supply for parts that were being imported from Europe. At the time, this included everything from C-Parts to Machined electrical components. I worked with engineering drawings from Germany and rose to the challenge of providing translated versions to local machine and sheet metal shops. I also coordinated and obtained additional warehouse space, and the logistics there-of when our production exceeded the storage space of our building.

Global Vintners produces consumer made wine kits under several brands and I was responsible for the production requirements in both Ontario and British Colombia plants. My responsibilities included purchasing, procurement and planning of printed material (boxes and instruction cards), chemicals, additives and packaging. Working closely with the Production Planner and the Wine Maker I coordinated the logistics of time sensitive materials (expiry dates) to the two plants as well as with the Warehouse Manager managed stock levels of critical items to ensure smooth production runs.

Purchasing, planning and logistics. This position touched all aspects of the procurement world from technical purchases to simple day to day supplies.I sourced and tracked shipments from as far away as China, executed ship and truck logistics, coordinated JIT international warehouse/production transfers to comply with local content regulations, and engineering (change) requests. Working closely with Project Management, Engineering, Production and Accounting, this position provided me with a variety of experience and a chance to work in an OEM production environment.

This MRO facility specialized in repair and overhaul of Auxiliary Power Units for commercial and military aircraft. I was contractually hired to buy for their customer, The Department of National Defense. This required me to pass a security check as well as to quickly learn the challenge of a matrix organization along with the numerous reports and requisitioning procedures.

My career at Air Canada encompassed many positions, but my final post as Inventory Controller was the most rewarding. This position involved managing inventory at multiple airport locations in Canada as well as supplying and tracking our customer supplied inventory at outsourced engine repair facilities. My expertise revolved around the Pratt and Whitney product, namely the small JT8D turbocharged motor found on DC-9 aircraft to larger PW4000 engines used on the Boeing 767.
