August 6th, 2015Friends and colleagues, As some of you know, I am retiring this week. I have worked at UOP for 15 years, having joined the company after 18 years at BP/ Amoco. My co-workers have always been an important part of my life and I have enjoyed (almost) every moment of it. Working at UOP has given me the wonderful opportunity to travel and meet people from all over the world. The customer training programs have provided the opportunity to show the best of UOP, the US, and Chicago to our visiting students and I’m sure they came away with a better opinion of all three. These past few years working in Training Services have truly been the high point of my career where I feel we made a difference for our customers and the company. All while having a pretty darn good time. But it is time for change. What’s next? I’d hope to pursue several interests: -Travel to new places inside and outside the US -Travel with my wife, Yota, to place I have seen but she hasn’t -Stalk our kids, wherever they move to -Exercise – 10,000 steps-a-day -Learn to read music -Volunteer more -Study for and pass a securities or financial advisor exam (Series 6 or 65) -Lose 20 pounds (9 kilograms) -Serve on a city commission -Cycle to the UOP Des Plaines campus -Do things I haven’t thought of yet!If I can accomplish a significant portion of these goals in the next few years, I will consider my time well-spend. So, don’t be a stranger and stay in touch. I am not retiring from life, just a job. Lunch invitations will be gratefully accepted. I wish each of you all the best for your future.
