Hello, my name is Steven Bui. I was formerly in the beauty industry, working for 11 years as a makeup artist, beauty consultant, and salon coordinator. At this stage, I developed an interpersonal and communicative skillset, a keen eye for detail, exceptional organization skills, an active interest in new industry trends and techniques, and excellent customer service and satisfaction.I shifted my focus to finishing two college degrees: an Associate of Art in Human Development Studies from Ohlone College in 2019 and a Bachelor of Science in Health Science with a concentration in Public Health from California State University East Bay in 2021.During the transition period after college graduation, I was a full-time caregiver for my elderly grandparents, one of whom had a stroke during the pandemic and now has mobility disabilities, and the other who required continuous care for progressive dementia. As of 2024, I have worked for the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters. I was previously an Election Aide during the Presidential Primary Election, working at the Milpitas Library Auditorium Vote Center, one of the larger 11-day vote centers within the county. Before the Presidential General Election, the Registrar of Voters' Precinct Operations Division (POD) appointed me to train the stipend volunteer workers. I was one of 12 election officers selected for this trainer role. I assisted with opening and closing a 4-day and 11-day vote center in Santa Clara County for the Presidential General Election. I was a Vote Center Lead for Northside Library and the Muslim Community Association in Santa Clara, managing a staff of 10+ people at each location. After closing the vote centers, I assisted the Registrar Voters' office with certifying the election by processing all of the remaining Vote-By-Mail ballots: organized into the correct precincts, flattened be scanned, and sorted damaged ballots to be duplicated by another team of election officers.I am actively seeking roles in public health and public administration. Through my studies at CSUEB, which revolve around public health issues, and my work with the Registrar of Voters, which ensures an election overseen with accurate voting procedures and democracy upheld, more than ever, I want to serve my community in a civil servant position. I want to bridge the gap in our society with fair & equitable access and treatment.
