HongSheng (Steven) Zhou is an aspiring compositor. His love for visual effects films and creative freedom brought him to the program, wishing that one day he could contribute his talents and potential to the visual effects industry. He has been practicing sketching since a young age and has developed a very keen eye for color while training in pastry school.Not wanting to disappoint his parents’ after graduating highschool, Steven studied computer science at SFU. The lack of creative freedom in the field was quickly taking a toll on him, but in the process, he developed a great mind for problem solving. He also has developed an incredible work ethic from his twelve years of training in competitive swimming where he has competed at the national level. While studying, he worked as the lead lighter in a small team of six students, where they cooperated to develop a small indie game. Because of covid, this process was made a lot harder because the only method of communication was through online but the team managed to work out an effective way of sharing work updating their work.With work ethic, problem solving, and time management ingrained in him from all different areas of life, he hopes to join one of the top visual effects studios in North America and later around the world.
