(GCTI) announced today they have been selected by Green Cooling Tower Solutions of New Orleans, LA to represent their ground breaking cooling tower technology to power plants, petroleum refineries and chemical plants in the U.S.This new "Patented" technology eliminates the use of electric motors to power cooling fans, which results in huge reductions of electrical infrastructure costs and overall energy consumption.The system was created by a cooling tower consultant whose client lost power after Hurricane Rita hit the Lake Charles back in September of 2005. Faced with no power for an extended period of time, Vincent Wiltz figured out a way to reconfigure the existing water flow (powered by emergency generators) and retrofit a Hydro-Turbine to operate the fan shaft. By utilizing existing water pressure to move the turbine, the entire system worked without the use of motors or electrical infrastructure which has saved the client millions in reduced operational costs over the past 4 years.Since then, Mr. Wiltz has continued to fine tune the efficiency of his cooling system and has been granted patient rights on the entire process. The GCT units have run flawlessly during the four year R&D phase of testing with virtually no maintenance required.Fast forward to 2013, electric motors can now be replaced with a “Green” solution and the electricity saved through the conversion will more than offset the cost of leasing or purchasing of the Towers. Further, the regulations from the EPA's clean water act Section 316 (b), which was passed in 2012, addresses plants in operation that could potentially be forced into retrofitting from “open” systems to “closed” systems by 2020 or they will be forced to close. This will be a great catalyst for the technology.
