Responsible for the day to day operations of the animal care 15 member team including coordinating work assignments, work flow, cage wash, facility maintenance, meeting researchers needs, employee training, performance appraisals, compliance with SOPs and with internal/external agencies.(USDA, FDA) Work with rodents, canines, non-human primates and rabbits Order and maintain building feed/bedding requirements.. Prepare and review all documentation generated by the facility. Directly manage an Edstrom Watchdog system as administrator and experience with a validated system for 15+ years. • Foster a strong team environment in which all members are cross trained and willing and able to support each other and the day’s activities• For all species, large and small, incorporate enrichment activities, as per USDA regulations, to improve the lives of research animals• Enforce company’s safety SOPs to ensure both staff and animals are protected and secure• Assure that all bio-hazardous waste is properly disposed of according to state regulations• Reduce costs by cultivating relationships with vendors and negotiating for supplies and PPEs• Ensure all animals are well groomed, caring for their coat, teeth and nails• Stay current on latest animal care trends and issues by reading journals, attending conferences, and networking with vendors• Known for motivating team members to meet departmental and corporate goals on time and within budget
