Saunders is a British-born communications analyst, investor, and digital media entrepreneur.He currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Board of Laser Light Communications, which is building the world's first all-optical carrier network in space. In 2018 he was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List for services to the telecommunications industry and business.Saunders began his career as a technology journalist with McGraw-Hill in the 1980’s. In 2000 he launched Light Reading, an online media network covering telecommunications news, telecommunications research, and security news. Light Reading was acquired by UBM in 2005 for $33 million.
