In collaboration with senior business stakeholders, currently implementing the beginnings of a Business Architecture practice within the Business Integration department. The goal is to 1) provide deep visibility into project execution, and 2) to solve a costly execution problems caused by the traditional bottom-up, technology-driven approach. The Business Architecture achieves these goals by 1) providing a formal representation of the business model, 2) ensuring horizontal alignment among stakeholders across the business, and 3) establishing IT alignment with the business strategy, all of which were absent until now.The Business Architecture is unifying the business vocabulary across the enterprise and authoritatively representing business rules that must be enforced and implemented by many solutions across the enterprise. This allows for the business to communicate amongst itself and with the IT organization to plan more efficiently and effectively. Using the model, we have significantly reduced the effort, time, and cost to plan initiatives, elicit requirements, and deliver solutions. Teams are smaller, more productive, and agile.The Business Architecture is already being used to deliver highly strategic IT initiatives, including 1) the most ambitious custom software development effort in the company's history, 2) the development of a Business Intelligence strategy, 3) the development of a Master Data strategy, and 4) the development of a Service Oriented Architecture strategy. All these initiatives struggled considerably until the advent of the top-down approach enabled by Business Architecture.The Business Architecture practice arose from two years working within the IT organization to remediate a large program that had gone awry. The goal was make existing designs more flexible while helping the IT organization meet business expectations. The business ultimately recognized the need for Business Architecture to truly realize those goals.

Introduced an architectural development life cycle as the foundation for establishing an application architecture team of over 10 architects. Established a Model Driven Architecture and Engineering capability that was used to deliver the pricing engine of the online room reservations system. Introduced standardized enterprise domain models (both services and data) used to establish the SOA discipline. These models and the MDA approach were used to develop key enterprise service components, which were then used to build applications.

As the lead architect, I lead a 50+ person team to design and develop the Revenue Department's tax system using architecture driven engineering disciplines. I established the SDLC that was followed, which was driven heavily by platform independent modeling techniques used to capture requirements and create a technology independent solution definition. I provided all the detailed design and development guides that were used to create the physical design and write the code.
