Based at the Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) offshore yard, I support the site manager leading the company’s site team responsible for overseeing and monitoring HHI during the construction, systems completion and on-site commissioning phase, for the 23,000 tonnes, 100,000 BPD, semi-submersible Floating Production System (FPS) to be located in the Gulf of Mexico, USA waters. As Topsides (and HSE) Lead, my role involves day-to-day interfacing with HHI project management, engineering, construction management, HSE, quality and commissioning teams, to proactively manage the ongoing work and resolve issues across all site construction, completions and commissioning activities.

As delivery manager for the topsides, my responsibilities encompass the full EPCIC Scope for the 55,000 tonnes FPSO Topsides process and utility modules (comprising condensate separation, gas treatment and production trains, 150 MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine power generation, utilities and gas export compression), for this 800MMSCFD gas/condensate FPSO. I provide day-to-day leadership and management of the Santos topsides engineering, procurement, construction, integration and commissioning teams, and support the FPSO Manager in overseeing the EPCIC contractor and leading the project through the execution phase.

As head of the Project Management department, I provided project execution and functional leadership of the company’s project management and project services teams; comprising over 150 project and corporate based personnel. My main responsibility was to act as a focal point to provide governance, support and guidance to project teams delivering ongoing projects within the company’s project portfolio. In addition, I was also accountable for implementation of corporate strategic themes aimed at improving the overall project execution competency of the business, process improvements and development of project staff, as well as providing support to new business proposals and other business development initiatives.

Hejre Development ProjectBased at the DSME Yard, I led the Company’s +175 man site team responsible for overseeing and monitoring the Technip/DSME consortium executing the final stages of the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract, which included mechanical completions and on-site commissioning support, for the 15,000 tonnes platform topside and main living quarters (MLQ). As Company Representative, I was responsible for day-to-day interface with the contractor including management and resolution of all technical and commercial issues across all site activities.In April 2016 the EPC contract was terminated and the company entered arbitration with the consortium. During this period I managed the close-down of the site operation and release of the site teams at the fabrication yards in Korea, whilst establishing a small task force responsible to support the ongoing arbitration process. Additionally, I continued as point of contact for local relations and negotiations with the consortium in an effort to secure safe disposal of the part-completed topside.Final settlement was agreed with the consortium in mid-2017, following which I finally closed down the Korean operation for DONG.

Responsible for managing the Liquefaction Facilities scope (LNG Trains, off-sites and utilities) for the 3 x 5mtpa Lake Charles LNG Project during EPC Tender evaluation and shortlisting for extended FEED phase. As a Senior Project Leadership team member, I headed a small team of Project Managers and was responsible to support the Project Director in leading the project through the extended FEED and FERC permitting phases, and for preparing this world-scale LNG Facility project for Final Investment Decision (FID).

Leading the Inpex topsides team, and deputising for the CPF Manager when necessary, I had technical, schedule and commercial accountability for control, management and resolution of issues relating to the CPF topsides detailed design-development, procurement and construction, for the world’s largest semi-submersible platform.Based in Houston, Texas, USA - August 2013 to December 2013 (5 Months)Company on-site representative, fully responsible for managing all activities involved in overseeing the main contractor (Samsung Heavy Industries) and their engineering subcontractor (Wood Group Mustang) during the detailed engineering and procurement phase for the CPF Topsides.
