Starting with an apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering with a leading Machine Tool manufacturer I quickly developed an aptitude for learning new skills particularly in computing and technology. During my apprenticeship I was also involved in the development of training courses for other apprentices.After completing my apprenticeship I moved in to the design office and after initially using drawing boards and pens the company brought in a CAD system and I was one of the first trained to use. After quickly picking up the software (AutoCAD) I then began training others and after a few years joined the company that had sold us the software to take a training and support role for their customers. This role continued with various companies for 12 years during which time as well as training and supporting users I also managed the department and helped develop new training materials. In 2002 I was given to opportunity to take my skill set to a new industry, medical, and I joined OrthoView to again train and support end users and also make use of my engineering and CAD skills to create the orthopedic implant template library needed to make the product a success. As as providing these roles I also took over management of the customer support team as the company grew.Finally the big career move came when I was given the opportunity to move to USA and support the growing OrthoView sales team there with customer presentations and end-user training. This is the role I continue to fulfill today but now as part of the Materialise team after their acquisition of OrthoView.
