Meteorologist
Current- Collection and quality control of a variety of meteorological observations and climatological data including temperature, precipitation, and river observations.
- Produce scientifically sound marine, aviation, and public forecasts for 23 counties and 6 airports in West Michigan and part of the Lake Michigan nearshore using observations, meteorological analysis, conceptual.
- Forecast and generate warnings for meteorological hazards such as winter weather, reduced visibility, and severe storms.
- Providing scientifically based decision support services to a variety of partners in multiple formats including text, graphical and verbal.
- Serve as co-Hazard Services, GFE, and WarnGen focal points as well as a member of the SOO support team.
- Providing education and leading discussion on the usage of probabilistic guidance in messaging and the forecast process.
