Meteorologist
Current• Collection and quality control of a variety of meteorological observations and climatological data including temperature, precipitation, and river observations.• Produce scientifically sound marine, aviation, and public forecasts for 23 counties and 6 airports in West Michigan and part of the Lake Michigan nearshore using observations, meteorological analysis, conceptual models, and model guidance.• Forecast and generate warnings for meteorological hazards such as winter weather, reduced visibility, and severe storms.• Providing scientifically based decision support services to a variety of partners in multiple formats including text, graphical and verbal.• Serve as co-Hazard Services, GFE, and WarnGen focal points as well as a member of the SOO support team.• Providing education and leading discussion on the usage of probabilistic guidance in messaging and the forecast process.• Participate in multiple case studies and projects including event reviews and python-based data visualization.
