SHS Trading Ltd is a family-run company specialising in homeware, garden products and tools sold online via mail order. Utilising online sales through three brands, Garden Mile, Marco Paul and Dunnet Tools, they sold to different specialised stores online through a dozen different sources, most predominantly Amazon and eBay.As their first and sole data analyst, my responsibilities covered: - Creating regular reports such as specialised items, returns reports and tracking their best selling and profit rates of stock each month. - Using R to clean, manipulate and join raw data sets using heavily commented and reproducible code, such as combining a month's sales report and a returns report to find the statistical return rate of items. - Creating interactive dashboards with multiple widgets in R Shiny, highlighting sales pattern of stock over peak seasons to help SHS management strategise future purchasing of stock.- Creating consistent functions in Excel and code in R to bulk-upload products, taking into account their cost price, postage charge, source fee to allocate a set price at a consistent margin.

Lost Loch are a distillery based in Aboyne, Aberdeenshire and I was their sale representative for Edinburgh and Glasgow. Lost Loch are inventive in their thinking, look at history for inspiration and produce a range of unique spirits using the very best local ingredients.Responsibilities in the role included:- Field-based role finding the right of spirit from the company's range would suit the menus for retailers, cocktail bars and restaurants.- Self-driven role creating your leads through research of venues across Scotland. Cask88 were one of the first businesses to specialise in selling single malt whisky casks to members of the public by specialising in SE Asia and expanding their operations worldwide. I was working with whisky lovers who want to own a cask and create a "Cask to Glass" experience.Duties included:- Selling a wide variety of Single Malt Scotch whisky casks which varied from new make spirit only a few months old to decades-old mature whisky so rare it could be described as a "piece of history." I was given targets and KPIs I consistently surpassed and ended my two years selling over £2.2 million worth of liquid.- Exquisite communication and time management skills to make foundational relationships with clients to acquire highly in-demand casks and juggling different timezones to ensure the sale goes to the right client in an ultra-competitive market.- Using data and Excel functions to give clients projections on either the estimated future volume of the cask and its potential value years down the line taking into account production costs, taxes and lost volume.

Providing great customer service can sometimes be seen as a standard for any employee but Beer52 proved being communicative, knowledgeable and honest often means you'll get fantastic rewards from your callers and employers. Taking 80 to 100 calls per day that could vary from upgrading a customer's subscription, fixing delivery issues to helping people continue to be member to the world's largest beer club but most importantly always providing them with the best experience and happy when they hang up. I had the extra job of taking negative reviews about the Beer52 on review site Trustpilot and converting those 1 star reviews about people who were deeply unhappy with the service to help them out, solve their problem (probably throw in a couple of extra free beers) and turn them away happy with them writing a glowing 5 star review as they go. Beer52 provided excellent perks to me and many others in customer service. Personally, this wasn't just a near-unlimited supply of beer but opportunities to travel to several festivals under their company banner, getting into exclusive events, tasting beer on the job as part of a judging panel and meeting great new brewers with heaps of potential to get their brews into future issues.

A hobby I performed for almost a decade in total but the dates given are the times when I managed to get regularly paid to stand up on stage and tell stories. Now the bar has several awards and featured as the best place to go for a drink in Edinburgh from the likes of The Lonely Planet, Scotsman and Time Out if you are just popping in you need a drink there. Thankfully the whisky range is pretty good too.
