ASGB Ltd is a bespoke coachbuilding company who specialise in the design and manufacture of specialist vehicles for a range of different purposes worldwide. These include the medical industry, outside broadcasting, entertainment & power generation. Customers include Sony, Vanguard Healthcare, Ferrari & Gearhouse Broadcast.My role within the company consists of working on the design of all mechanical aspects within the vehicles. This can range from the main structural elements right down to the fixings used within the retractable steps. Every vehicle is bespoke and poses different design challenges which have to be overcome.

Working closely with the project managers and worldwide clients to develop solutions to their HVAC requirements.Using Solidworks 2008/09/10 to produce accurate 3D models, drawings to ISO128 standards and photo-realistic 3D renders to meet the clients needs. Major projects include:- London Underground 'Cooling The Tube'- Marmaray Tunnel, Istanbul, TurkeyResponsibilities:• Interpreting plant room layouts and the design of ventilation systems.• 3D design within Solidworks of a complete ventilation system to enable the correct air movement within the environment.• Provide solutions for the installation of the ventilation system and also extraction solutions in the event of a motor failure.• Provision of a detailed installation guide in the form of 2D drawings, 3D models and motion simulation models to show the complex installation process in a methodical order.• Ensuring the development of designs fit within the space envelope that is available from architects drawings etc.• Producing workable solutions for adapting original system mountings to suit the new ventilation design.

The Fläkt Woods Apprenticeship scheme gave me the opportunity to work in a variety of departments throughout the company. These placements included Assembly, Research and Development, Quality Control, Customer Services & Engineering.Working in the above departments has given me beneficial experience in a working environment and also an understanding of the products & processes used in manufacturing.During my final 8 month placement within the drawing office I gained vital knowledge of the Solidworks 3D package and also the design procedures that I could take forward and use during my next role within the company.During my apprenticeship I achieved the following qualifications:-- City&Guilds 2800 Manufacturing Engineering- HNC Mechanical Engineering- NVQ Level 3 in Business Improvement Techniques- Advanced Modern Apprenticeship Qualification in Mechanical Engineering
