Primarily supported the planning and execution of the biennial Labor Notes Conference. My contributions included the following: -Initiated an oral history recording project in partnership with membership of the StoryCorps Union CWA Local #1180. During the conference, we collected and archived stories from several elders and rising voices in the labor movement-Helped to develop and organize panels and programming featuring the voices and stories of queer workers who are organizing for justice and dignity on the job-Coordinated accommodations to make the conference accessible to more workers; including finding and scheduling ASL interpreters and securing mobility scooters for attendees

-Organized a campaign that won nearly $100 million in state and federal funding for upgrades to election infrastructure across the country-Strategically recruited and supported local election officials as they climbed a ladder of engagement and advocated for pro-democracy policies-Managed a coalition of partner organizations and solicited their participation in advocacy campaigns-Interviewed local election officials and crafted needs assessments based on their input

-Tracked and analyzed legislation in all 50 states impacting voting rights and elections, with findings published widely in prominent national media outlets and directly cited by President Biden and Justice Kagan, among others-Coordinated Supreme Court amicus brief sign-on campaign in prominent Voting Rights Act case-Assisted with endorsement outreach and both press and social media strategy in support of the winning Proposition 17 campaign in California that restored the right to vote to people on parole-Conducted novel legal and historical research to inform campaigns to restore voting rights in multiple states; integrated findings into writings and presentations geared toward diverse audiences-Supported advocacy in key states to expand voting rights in the 2020 election cycle-Performed administrative tasks including tracking expenses, planning events, scheduling meetings, drafting social media posts, assembling legal filings, and fact-checking and copy-editing articles-Wrote and compiled various talking points, programmatic updates, and briefings for reports and presentations to diverse audiences

-Researched the activities of peer cities and reviewed third party assessments. Reported findings to inform the drafting of a major environmental justice ordinance-Met with community stakeholders to understand their needs and seek feedback on ordinance development

-Worked with residents and the Senator to draft, introduce, and find co-sponsors for a bill to lower costs for students attending higher education institutions-Represented the office at several community meetings and reported resident priorities to the Senator

Developed the proposal and led the effort to establish an on-campus election polling location at Wayne State UniversityEstablished the Campus Safety Advisory Council, the campus community police oversight board, to bring student oversight and accountability to the Wayne State University Police DepartmentRepealed previous University policies, and expanded new University policies and programs to promote equity and equal access to success at Wayne State University for our LGBT student populationPassed innovative budget initiatives to address the financial barriers that students face to completing their degree at Wayne State UniversityPassed amendments to our Bylaws and Charter to make the student government more democratic, transparent, and accessible to the student bodyLed the effort, in concert with College faculty leaders, to provide students earlier access to course syllabiPushed for greater student representation on University committees, and within University governanceInvested in creating and deepening institutional relationships with the Academic Senate, the faculty/staff unions, and other faculty/staff governance bodiesAdvanced several initiatives to get our campus to adopt more sustainable practicesPassed and implemented a program incentivizing faculty to develop and adopt zero-cost Open Educational Resources in their courses to defray student financial burdensPassed and implemented the expansion of a program to promote public transit options, deliver free bus passes to students in need, and eliminate students' transportation barriers

Research Assistant Supervisor on the Collateral Consequences Project: Supervised and managed a team of research assistants. Oversaw all legal research completed in a 50-state survey of the laws that restrict the rights of people convicted of felony offenses.

-Conducted client interviews and analyzed sentencing guidelines to inform legal strategy -Supported the disposition of cases in defense of our clients alongside a team of attorneys

-Developed and administered a new training program for the Absent Voter Counting Board-Supervised the operation of the Absent Voter Counting Board on Election Day according to formal election procedures and applicable statutes

Research Assistant on the Police Stress Study: Assisted in running research participants through on-site visits. Administered research participant surveys and debriefed research participants at the conclusion of their on-site visits. Critically analyzed research participant feedback and incorporated feedback into research design alterations.

Maintained official records and supported communication between the executive board and the general body

Ran on-campus voter registration activities in conjunction with our team of volunteers; for which I earned our student organization an award for registering the most students to vote.
