The FSP is a not-for-profit corporation, granted 501 c 3 status by the Internal Revenue Service, and dedicated to helping Palau implement the world's first nationwide marine sanctuary, where industrial fishing will be entirely banned. The FSP has helped to launch the world's first crowd funding effort on behalf of a sovereign purpose, on the indiegogo.com platform. This is a new multi-stakeholder alliance of countries, UN agencies, corporations, foundations and citizens committed to the inclusion of Oceans and Seas in the world's post-2015 development agenda, featured recently at the Clinton Global Initiative. The Alliance will advocate at the UN for a a Sustainable Development Goal on the Oceans and Seas. Left out of the Millennium Development Goals entirely, the Oceans, while the common heritage of mankind, and the lungs of the planet, are in peril. If we want healthy fish stocks and reefs we must change the world's agenda and the UN is the only place to do it.
