I have over 30 years’ experience in a variety of roles that have covered business improvement, operational excellence, maintenance, operations and asset management across several industries. These opportunities have given me the chance to work with a wide range of organisations and presented me with the chance to gather knowledge from a variety of people. I have a deep understanding of how to develop teams and systems to set up people and operations for success. I have worked in both Business Improvement and Asset Management. This includes deploying many processes including asset strategy development, maintenance budget development and management, operational and maintenance readiness, LEAN Systems including the Alcoa Business System (ABS) and recently Rio Tinto’s Safe Production System.I have an easy-going, people-focused manner which I believe engages the workforce, and results in sustainable improvements which are “owned” by front line and management. I have worked in many areas of the resource industry including mining, alumina refining, aluminum smelting and aluminum rolled products.After being the Maintenance Superintendent at Bell Bay Smelter for 3 years I returned to Western Australia and established the RTIO East Pilbara Digger Shut team. I then moved into the mining team as Dewatering and Site Services Superintendent at West Angelas. Prior to my current role as Principal Advisor BI, I was the Fixed Plant Maintenance Superintendent. These roles have allowed me to gain an understanding of the challenges asset management presents to operational teams and the need to have resources in place to ensure they are supported in expanding their understanding and effectiveness at deploying AM strategies and tools.During my career before joining Rio as an FTE I worked as an Asset Management consultant through my own company, Maintenance Ready Solutions. I have executed projects for several large clients including Newcrest Mining, FMG, Orica, BHPB, Sydney Water, Snowy River Hydro and most importantly for this role, at RTIO across all three ports, most PMO sites and the Rail Division. I have completed post graduate studies at Monash University and hold a Diploma in Front Line Management. I am also a qualified in SPS as a L1 Deployment Lead and a Mindsets & Behaviour Associate. I have completed the Rio Asset Management Professional Development Program (AMPDP). In addition, I am also qualified in the application of Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Modes and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Practical Problem Solving (PPS) and Essential Factors.
