As a Barman I held a number of responsibilities and duties that were required every shift, or upon request by a manager or member of the public. My primary tasks include, but were not limited too; Taking beverage orders from serving staff or directly from patrons, cleaning bars, work areas, and tables, preparing desserts such as cakes and pies with appropiate accompaniment, and conducting replenshment for all bar area stocks.I was also required to be educted in many of the legal regulations that come with the postition, such as Food Hygiene, and the handling of various customer situations.Furthermore, it was necessary for me to be knowledgable of more hazardous practices such as helping with deliveries, which meant the transportation of heavy goods, and the replacing of beer barrels, taking consideration of the gases used.With regards to a shift structure, I was flexible enough to work the late night hours, or sometimes even hold a double shift, offering my services for the daytime hours followed by the evening shift. Generally there was only ever one barman on shift at any one time therefore, it required me to be efficient in my service and professional to call on fellow waiters when necessary.

As a Recreational Assistant, the prominent portion of my role was that of a lifeguard, where my duties involved; supervising swimmers, spotting hazards and preventing accidents, giving advice on water safety, controlling unruly behaviour, water rescues and providing first aid including CPR.The other portion of my job involved the many tasks such as activity setups, including staging units and bouncy castles, and also maintaining a professional standard of cleanliness about the workplace.The role further required mandatory staff training on a monthly basis to maintain the highest levels of first aid both for water and land based situations. It was part and parcel of the postition to be dealing with all manner of people both public and colleague. This helped to improve my customer sensitivity and teamwork ethics.

For my GCSE work placement experience, I chose to investigate the inner workings of the finance world by assisting my local RBS branch. My role as a work placement student was more of an educational practise assisting the different sections of the workforce in whatever way they required.I learned how to interact with the public on their everyday transactions, such as large money deposits. I was able to also sit in on some of the more specialised 1-on-1 meetings regarding peoples financial situations.I completed a lot of adminstrative work, which boosted my organisational skills, and found myself comfortable enough to work alongside any of the branches teams increasing my professionalism in different surroundings and also my teamwork as well.
