I work in the Trip Execution team at MOIA, where I've been responsible for testing a complex system of components that together orchestrate the things that need to happen for trips to be executed successfully. This involves among other things a lot of test code interacting with various AWS infrastructure - message queues, APIs, IoT, S3 in order to manipulate behaviour and inspect outcomes.

I worked as QA Engineer in the mobile platform team, where as a team we were responsible for providing the core platform (both frontend and some backend) for the ReachNow application, into which other SDKs for various transport modes worked on within other teams could be plugged. The XING architecture is a distributed one, made up of many standalone applications that communicate through REST APIs and message queues. As the company adopted agile methods in 2011 I became lead of a small scrum team. There was no defined boundary of roles within the scrum team, so development and testing were performed by all members of the team. I worked as a consultant in the Economic Appraisal group at SDG. The role of this group was to evaluate the economic viability of large scale transport proposals. We used transport modelling software to generate estimates for the demand on different parts of the network being modelled, then fed this information through economic models to estimate revenue projections, and quantifiable benefits to users of the network (e.g. saving time on their journey).
