A founder board member and non-executive Chairman of Electronics Yorkshire Ltd (EYL), an electronics sector training, apprenticeship provider and technical support organisation. Originally established in 2003 to support electronics companies in the Yorkshire and Humber area, it is now a leading provider of industry standard, IPC training in the UK with an international customer base.

Following the acquisition of Datong by Seven Technologies took on the responsibility for the Manufacturing Operations activities of the group in Leeds, Lisburn (Northern Ireland) and London, increasing productivity, saving costs and improving product quality.

Responsible for the sales and operations activities during the period leading up to and during the acquisition of the business by Seven Technologies. Whilst maintaining responsibility for the manufacturing operations, the main focus at this time was on Global Sales. Customer facing and managing a team of sales managers and distributors across the world, securing high value military development contracts and product sales.

Returned to the Manufacturing Operations role, focussing on productivity and process improvement, with an emphasis on Lean manufacturing, quality and delivery performance.

Took on a sales role to support the required growth of the Datong Tracking and Location product range. Joined Datong as Operations Manager (promoted to Director in 2005), to grow the company, improve product quality, reduce delivery lead times to customers, introduce process improvements and achieve cost reductions.

Commercial Manager reporting to the Managing Director, responsible for the finance and purchasing departments. Managed cash flow, monthly & annual accounts, budgets and raising finance to support the business growth. Project managed the selection and UK implementation of the business ERP system.

Responsible for all the procurement activities predominantly supporting the manufacturing and engineering departments. Importing components from the US and Europe.

Responsible for the procurement team managing a global pharmaceutical supply chain.

Having started as an Apprentice, went on to work in the Purchasing team responsible for procuring and managing the major subcontract suppliers.
