Management of the IR function for a leading and high profile international support services company. Responsible for all aspects of IR including results announcements and presentations, external reporting of strategic developments, attending all roadshows and investor meetings, responding to sell-side analyst research and investor requests, and working with all IR-related parties. Joint responsibility and significant input into other media, government affairs and industry activity where it involves potential City interest or the corporate brand; the annual report; market and competitor monitoring; strategic development and financial planning.Major overhaul of Serco’s IR programme to continue building investor and analyst awareness of the investment case and of the significant changes to the business. Introduction of site visits and operational ‘teach-ins’, capital markets days, divisional management access and other tailored investor events and contact. Bespoke communication plans for major M&A activity, divisional reorganisations, and capital structure changes including direct responsibility for equity raising through a rights issue and placings, along with several rounds of debt refinancing.Reporting directly to the Group CFO with strong working relationships with the CEO and Executive Board, as well as the Chairman particularly on governance matters. Major strategic developments for Serco and the industry have required increasing IR input. More recently, the IR function has had key responsibilities in communicating contract issues, progress in Serco’s relationship with UK Government and the Group’s corporate renewal programme, together with the a substantial strategy review and leadership changes.While at Serco the company has seen significant improvement and top industry rankings for IR, as well as awards won for the Group’s strategic reporting, the Institutional Investor ‘Most Honoured’ award and nominations for best IR for a corporate transaction.

Establishment of IR function for leading UK retail business demerged out of GUS plc. Introduction of new CEO and Finance Director to the City and to their IR responsibilities. Responsible for all aspects of IR including programme design to build investor and analyst awareness of the investment case for the newly listed business and its management team. Organisation of the ‘beauty parade’ to appoint corporate brokers, and lead responsibility of relationships with new teams of brokers, IR advisers and financial PR agency. Additional responsibilities outside of mainstream IR covering competitor and market analysis, and the design and monitoring of share-based executive remuneration plans.Ranked 1st by both the sell-side and the buy-side for ‘Best Investor Relations Professional’ for the European general retail sector in the Institutional Investor Magazine Survey. The Home Retail Group IR team was also ranked 1st in the equivalent Thomson Reuters Extel Survey, and won the award for ‘Best overall IR for a UK company’.
