I joined VectorCommand initially as a Quality Assurance Engineer. Over the next four years, I was offered the opportunity to assist with some internal systems administration tasks to aid the existing systems administrator. Finding myself enjoying the new responsibilities and providing in-house support, I joined the Implementation and Support team in July 2012. I joined the Implementation and Support team in July 2012 after working in the QA team from February 2008. Joining VectorCommand in February 2008, my role required me to test bespoke incident management and training software, both on in-house test rigs, representative of a customer setup, as well as on customer sites in their own test environment. Experience and responsibilities included:• Quality assurance testing of bespoke incident management and training software• Creating test plans based on technical specifications produced by the development team• Building a test rig representative of the client setup using both physical and virtual machines (VirtualBox and HyperV) in order to accurately test the software against a realistic environment• Creating and executing test scripts for new functionality• Executing regression test scripts for existing functionality• Carrying out automated testing using Automated QA and Javascript to enable tests to be run overnight and over weekends, as well as allowing for load testing to be performed• Carrying out manual testing when automated testing was unsuitable for specific tasks• Carrying out a wide range of testing, including Functional, Regression, Edge-Case, End-To-End, Load and Site Acceptance Testing• Reporting software defects and bugs to the development team through the Mantis bug reporting system• Testing bug fixes and closing them off in the bug tracking system• Generating test exit reports for presenting to implementation team during release meetings
