Professor Emeritus
CurrentAfter 12 years at San Diego State University, and having been a faculty/administrator for the past 20 years, which followed 24 years as a faculty member (for a total of 44 years in academia and 35 of them at US institutions), I decided 2020 is a good time to retire. This follows our 5 month sabbatical in 2017 at the University of Hawai'i, Manoa's Department of Sociology and a final year 2018-19 as Interim Director of International Programs at SDSU. I am still working on lots of publishing projects but feel so much less pressured now. Moved from San Diego to Austin Texas, to join Lee who has been living here for the past three years, and to help her feed the deer that roam through our front yard and to do battle with the squirrels who like to upend our bird feeders to steal the bird food from under their beaks!
