Laboratory Technician Job Role:The primary function of this job role is the manufacture of biological reagents with particular reference to the purification of antibodies, antigens and blocking molecules for use in diagnostic tests. Laboratory Technician Job Responsibilities:• Accurate completion of manufacturing documentation • The manufacture and testing of biological reagents / work environment to ensure product quality and availability including accurate completion of all relevant documentation• Manage availability and control of raw materials and laboratory consumables within the laboratory• Inventory management and control through accurate and timely use of MFG-Pro.• Compliance to Abbott Quality Systems: i.e. following both local SOPs aswell as global procedures..• To ensure appropriate training has been completed and documented before tasks are carried out.• Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.• Documents information by maintaining daily logs and equipment record books.• Manufacture of buffers for purification preparations• Packing of Chromatography Media into column housings from 10ml to 100ltrs.• Resolves problems by examining and evaluating data; selecting corrective steps.• Completes projects by assisting project team; attending and participating in group and project meetings.• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.• Enhances laboratory and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.• Controls non-conforming material ensuring material is safely and effectively quarantined / disposed of.• Participation in quality/regulatory audits of the laboratory to ISO:9001, GMP, TUV, FDA and Abbott regulatory standards.
