To interpret and advise the Council on implications of UK and EU Safety legislation and make recommendations for implementation. Review the Councils Safety policies and procedure, making recommendations and implementing changes as required. Advise on completion of risk assessments, supporting managers to ensure they are carried out. Advise managers on Health and Safety Matters, encourage and promote the adoption of safe and healthy practices and behaviour amongst the Councils employees. Ensure compliance with the Councils Health and Safety Policy throughout the organisation. Identify training needs, design and deliver training programs to meet this need, where necessary identify external training requirements. Coordinate the Fire Wardens and First Aid provision. Act as advisor to the chairman of the Risk Management Group. Investigate accidents and incidents, maintain a central record and recommend corrective action where required. Monitor the effectiveness of the Councils safety policies and procedures and report to Service Heads, Directors and Management Team as appropriate. Working with managers to ensure that audits of safety systems, equipment and working practices are carried out. Respond to Health and Safety queries from managers and staff. Liaise with external agencies in respect of the Councils Health and Safety responsibilities, including the HSE. Assess, Monitor and provide advice and guidance to contractors undertaking work for or providing a service to the Council. Undertake the role of CDM Co-ordinator for small to medium scale building and maintenance projects, advice and guide service heads of client duties, roles and responsibilities. Provide support to the Environmental Health Manager (Commercial) in relation to Health and Safety Campaigns. When required assist the Environmental Health Manager (Commercial) with enforcement actions under the authority granted by the Chief Executive.

Undertaking OSH roles at all levels, including: policy development, risk assessment, stand plan approvals, advice and guidance on legislative issues, implementing new policy, site supervision, site inspection and audits, safety audits and inspection report writing together with performance evaluation. The development and delivery of training courses in Safety and Security areas and the adaptation of nationally recognised courses into the event framework to provide clients with qualified staff and provide staff with a qualification bespoke to the work environment. Working on site at various venues throughout the UK and abroad for the provision of Health and Safety management.

Working as an analyst and team leader of a software development team designing and maintaining software for the Military Administration and Management system (UNICOM). Identifying and making better use of the skills available to the team to ensure that strict time deadlines are met. Undertaking the Military duties required of a Warrant Officer Class 1.
