I am part of the Senior Management Team, with responsibility for progressing the impact & growth ambitions of Routes to Work (RTW). We aim to identify opportunities to increase the reach of RTW employability service offer, both within our traditional delivery area of North Lanarkshire and by expanding the geographical footprint of our sector leading company. We aim to develop and ensure sustainable revenue streams for RTW and consider innovative and compelling new service offers that include the development of our Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) and Social Value UK.Ultimately, I hope to contribute to RTW vision to reduce poverty and make transformational change to the clients and communities we work with.

My responsibilities at NCL were to manage, coordinate and develop the Employability and Community Learning and Development portfolio of the combined college. This included: community based programmes, Employability delivery, Digital North Lanarkshire and Prince’s Trust activity.I represented NCL on a number of strategic and thematic groups in North, South Lanarkshire and East Dumbartonshire which included, Community Learning and Development, English as a Second or Other Language, (ESOL) Adult Literacy and Numeracy, Digital Inclusion, More Chances/ More Choices amongst others. I also chaired the partnership Digital North Lanarkshire project https://www.digitalnl.co.uk/ During my 20 years at NCL I also supported students with their reading, writing and number skills, delivered the PDA Initial Training in Adult Literacies Learning qualification (ITALL) and various health and safety programmes. I also worked on a consultancy basis with College Development Network.I am a NEBOSH qualified and IOSH registered teaching member and have undertaken CPD in numerous IT qualifications, SVQ in Management and Leadership and successfully achieved a Degree in Business and Enterprise.

Motherwell

My responsibilities at NCL and previously at Motherwell College, was to manage, coordinate and develop the Community Learning and Development portfolio. This includes: community based programmes, literacy and numeracy support, SDS Employability Fund programmes and our Prince’s Trust Team programmes in Lanark, Hamilton, East Kilbride and Rutherglen in partnership with South Lanarkshire Council.I managed a team of ten full time staff and I contributed, developed and represented NCL on a number of strategic and thematic groups in North and South Lanarkshire.

Wishaw

In my role as Community Learning and Development Worker I contributed to the development of community education in the Wishaw, Shotts and Harthill areas of North Lanarkshire. I established new IT groups and IT suites in various locations through ESF funding and, in partnership with local further education colleges, coordinated the delivery of a number of training programmes in North Lanarkshire. In addition I was responsible for the development of literacy and numeracy groups, managing and training sessional and volunteer staff and delivering SQA units in Community Work.I was part of the working group which established the initial North Lanarkshire Literacy and Numeracy strategy and I supported a number of community groups in funding bids and constitutional applications before moving to a role at Motherwell College (now New College Lanarkshire)
