This is my own PC repair business that used to be based in a busy high street in Houghton-le-Spring, but since taking the additional role at Qube, I currently operate this from my home address. Mainly, it is home users bringing their systems to me because there is a fault with them. I repair them, contact the customer and arrange collection and payment from them. This can also involve a home visit where I might need to install some peripherals, or connect the systems to an existing network or connect it to the internet.I also sell goods from the shop and build PC systems to order based on the customers needs.I also frequently deal with tablet and mobile repairs as wellAs well as dealing with the home users, I also deal with many local businesses. I have a service contract in place where for a monthly fee, I look after the companies’ IT needs, and if there are any problems, I can either use remote access to fix the issue, or make a visit to their premises, whichever is the fastest way for the client.So with all this in mind, I am quite comfortable working within and managing windows domains and servers, including setting up access rights and managing user accounts, but also working with client machines and systems such as Office and Sage.But also I don’t mind putting the time in and learning client’s custom software depending on what they clients do themselves.

Field Engineer working in customer homes. My main duties for this role are home visits to do with the broadband and TV service. mainly on behalf of BT (including EE and plusnet) Talktalk and Sky. This can range from new installations and demonstrations, to faults within the home, and running data, telco or coax cables.

Most of my duties here were the same as I am currently doing at Houghton Computers, the only difference is that I was not self-employed. still have a good working relationship with Hetton Computer Company and quite often do a few jobs for them that they cannot do in-house.

Doxford Park, Sunderland

Collective Technology was an IT support company, based inside a call centre building at Doxford International Business Park. It built and supplied websites for clients, but also handled all the IT and IP Telephony needs for the entire building.My main duties were to maintain the servers and manage the domains for the companies based in that building. As well as the IT infrastructure, I had to make sure the phone system was running well, and manage the lines and extensions internally as businesses and users joined and left the premises.I also had to install new cables and data panels in the flooring for new desk units, or when false walls went up for easier access for the clients.In addition to the internal aspect, I had to ensure secure access to the servers from outside, including setting up VPNs so clients could access their information and resources to work from home, or a secondary office.We also had a few clients based around the local area that had rolling service agreements, so I had to visit the clients premises and do maintenance or upgrades.

Hetton-Le-Hole

Most of my duties here were the same as I am currently doing at Houghton Computers and at Hetton Computer Company, and this is actually Hetton Computer Company before it was re-branded. Again the only real difference is that I was not self-employed, but also while I was here, I was mostly doing call out work away from the shop in customer homes. This involved the shop booking in jobs to either repair at customers homes if time allowed, or collect the system for work to be carried out at the shop, to be returned at a later date. I also had to do deliveries and installations of new systems for new and existing customers.
