About Stuart Chandler
I have experience in using design and historical data sets in the areas covering heavy vehicles with Mil-CAN and J1939 data buses; renewable energy systems research with 3D CAD and VR simulations; gas turbine high pressure compressor life data investigations; air traffic control systems reliability modelling; and age exploration studies for a nuclear power plant and an oil platform well-head. I have also previously investigated the use of unsupervised machine learning for J1939 data with MATLAB and some relevant MathWorks toolboxes. This year I have been researching the use of 3D modelling for use in engineering design and marketing, using tools like Blender, Quixel Mixer, Quixel Bridge and Unreal Engine. I am also an inventor in a renewable energy system: https://www.ipo.gov.uk/p-ipsum/Case/PublicationNumber/GB2501939.Area of expertise:- Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA)- Data mapping of failure modes, fault codes and heavy vehicle data from Mil-CAN and J1939 data buses- Analysing Health and Usage Monitoring Systems (HUMS) data from an XML file format- Analysing HUMS CAN-Bus data from a blf file format - Using HUMS data to support the development of prognostic algorithms- Engineering Research and Development (R&D)- Research into the use of Machine Learning to find patterns in heavy vehicle failure data- Creation of Engineering Proposals documentation- Producing the application documentation for Engineering research grants- Reliability modelling of computer networked systems, like air traffic control- Virtual Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA) using 3D XML Viewer- Whole Life Cost Modelling with Excel, Access and VBA- Engineering data analysis of gas turbines for Life cycle management- Age exploration of data from in-service systems and equipment to adapt the maintenance regime- Knowledge and use of SolidWorks CAD and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools- A new and growing knowledge of Unreal Engine and Blender tools for 3D development and simulationsResearch Engineer, HUMS Data Analyst, Reliability Engineer, Whole Life Cost Modelling Engineer, Life Cycle Management Engineer, Writing Engineering Proposals, Research Papers, 3D DesignT: 07475224226E: chandler.cygnus@googlemail.com

Research Engineer
CurrentThe past year I have been adding to my skills by studying various online courses covering HTML and CSS; Python data analytics; Sweet-Home 3D design; Modular 3D building design with Blender, Quixel Mixer, Quixel Bridge and Unreal Engine; Blender 3D environment design; Unreal Engine Open World Landscapes design; Unreal Engine C++ developer and C++ ultimate game developer; Character Modelling and Rigging in Blender - Unreal Engine. These courses are being studied through Udemy and to see the dates of the completed courses see the "Accomplishments" section below.
Senior Engineer
I was a Health and Usage Monitoring Systems (HUMS) data analyst using vehicle data and data from the Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) reports and systems design reports for details of the reported fault codes. To understand the consequences of each reported fault code from the vehicles it was necessary to map those faults codes to the failure modes. This data mapping also provided the means to report the level of Built-In Test (BIT) coverage, which highlighted the scope for manual checks and maintenance inspections. Due to the infancy of the HUMS software it was necessary to download the raw CAN-Bus data in blf file format from the test vehicles. This blf file was converted to a csv file format by using an open-source Python code application. During this period I decided to study online and in my own time the Python programming language, which I knew at the time was being extensive used in other Industries for machine learning applications. I did the study through Coursera and was awarded a certificate of completion authorized by the University of Michigan on 14th November 2019. One of my responsibilities for the HUMS data was to derive prognostic algorithms based on the performance data being collected as part of the HUMS data-set. We had MATLAB and investigated the use of Principle Component Analysis (PCA) with additional MathWorks toolboxes, but we didn't have enough good/complete data available from the vehicles. I started to investigate Python based machine learning algorithms due to the amount of machine learning Python examples that existed via the web.
Research Engineer In Renewable Energy Systems
Investigate the use of the systems modelling language (SysML) for the integration of disparate engineering disciplines to enable holistic design trade-off analysis through the use of simulation technology and stochastic design decision algorithms.
Director & Founder
I setup a Limited company to service contract engineering work, like the contract from Thales in 2009 and to conduct research into renewable energy systems. In 2010 I performed a technical search of renewable energy systems and started an initial design concept for a new system. This work enabled me to put together a proposal for research into a renewable energy system, which was submitted as an application for a research grant in the North East England, UK. I was awarded the grant in 2011, which allowed me to work full-time on this research. The work I completed lead to me filing my invention information pack on 11th May 2012 to the UK Intellectual Property Office and the patent was finally granted on 9th September 2014. During the design process I used the SolidWorks CAD system with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and performed physical experiments with the working fluid. To see the details of this invention go to the accomplishments section below where there is a link to my documentation on the UK Intellectual Property Office website.
Life Cycle Engineer
Reliability engineering through applying Weibull analysis for the TP400 turbo-prop gas turbine. Investigating the high pressure compressor with heritage, flight trials and stress analysis data.
Ils Engineer
Investigating the use of SysML in the support concept of operations as specified by the DoDAF standard.
