Over a decade of experience working in 100% project-based learning high schools has helped me grow my passion for high quality education and pedagogy. My background is in Chemistry and I spent 7 years teaching high school science courses using 100% PBL to engage students in authentic science inquiry related to real-world problems. In addition to working in the classroom, I have also helped develop and run professional development courses on PBL for teachers and administrators all over the world. This has included trainings as well as consulting on lesson plans, learning tasks, project design, and school structures to support student growth in PBL. In grad school, I conducted thesis research on the role of PBL in high school chemistry classrooms and worked as a research assistant for other publications on PBL in high school. In 2016, I helped to open a brand new charter school specializing in PBL and now serve as the Dean of Student Services at this campus. This new role allows me to focus on systems and policies to help foster a strong campus culture, rigorous standards-based learning, and strong PBL pedagogy.
