Head Of Communications
CurrentInaugural Head of Communications at one of the world's great libraries and research collections. The library is home to nearly ten million books, maps, manuscripts and priceless objects spanning millennia of human thought and discovery, including the archives of Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin and Stephen Hawking. In my first 18 months at the University Library, I wrote and initiated the library's first full-scale communications strategy, visibly increasing our in-person and digital audiences with major growth on Twitter (32.5pc), Facebook (208pc) and Instagram (452pc). Meanwhile, our content has been viewed millions of times across our channels - at the same time as generating more than 14,000 articles of coverage in the national and international press - almost all of them overwhelmingly positive. In 2020, Cambridge University Library became the first institution at the University of Cambridge to partner with Google on its Arts and Culture platform, sharing our world-class collections with Google's global audience. In 2023, we founded the University Library Research Institute. As one of the UK and Ireland's six Legal Deposit Libraries, Cambridge University Library, founded in 1416, has been able to request a copy of every book and publication in the UK since 1710.
