Signed up 23 banks, including SMBC and Sumitomo Trust Bank, and provided marketing support and in-branch training to help sell fixed and variable annuities. Total 2003 sales exceeded $4 billion with a doubling of that in 2004 via distribution through 90+ bank relationships • Started an institutional securities company called AIG Japan Securities to allow broader distribution of offshore product manufactured by AIG, such as the AIG Preferred Securities Fund which sold in excess of $1 billion in its first year• Western Europe: Entered the German and Italian markets with the protection/savers unit-linked life product “Foundation Investments”. Italian single premium sales topped $400 million in less than two years, and there was steady growth in the number of institutions (banks, networks and SIMs) selling the product.
