Cedars Nature Centre is a community zoo based in the historic grounds of Cedars Park.Created as a place where anyone from any background or ability can learn about the natural world. ​Familiar favourites such as meerkats and owls are just some of the animals found here alongside the strange more unusual creatures such as zorilla and tenrecs, there is lots to discover. ​Back in 2016 Stuart Short and Nick Spellman took over pets corner from Broxbourne council and created Cedars Nature Centre.​It took over a year to complete but in August 2017 Cedars Nature Centre opened to the public and we have loved every day since!​We run daily talks every 45 mins including our popular meerkat feed and skunk meet and greet!My job roles include organising the day to day running of a small zoo, managing staff and volunteers, organising work experience student placements and conducting interviews.Admin including zoo licensing records, animal movements, managing shop stock and general admin.General animal husbandry, enclosure design and events management.

This special event is for children with neurodiverse conditions including autism and other sensory processing difficulties. It allows them to enjoy the Museum with their families and siblings, free from the hustle and bustle of the general public.Stuart has worked with National Geographic Children's Magazine, The Royal Veterinary College, The Science Musuem, Conkers, Duggie Dug Dug and various other children's event organisations.Stu's engaging manner has brought him several television and radio appearances: Numerous appearances on Channel 4's 'Sunday Brunch'​, as an animal expert on a Herts FM programme, a special guest for the DVD called 'Duggie Dug Dug Goes Wild'​ and as an animal handler for 'Liza Tarbuck's Pet Nation' on Sky One.
