Stuart Silverman was previously an attorney with the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, Office of the Inspector General for the District of Columbia Government (OIG). He also was designated as a Special Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Columbia. Prior to joining the OIG, Mr. Silverman was in private practice with Greenberg Traurig, and was also with the Office of the General Counsel for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Early in his career, Mr. Silverman was an attorney with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and a Special Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia. Stuart Silverman has been active with the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA). He has held various leadership positions with AHLA, includinng Chair of the Business Law and Governance Practice Group. He was an Adjunct Professor at American University Washington College of Law. He was also a guest lecturer at the Tsinghua University School of Law in Beijing, China for an eight-lecture series on American health law (May 2011). Stuart Silverman has written articles on numerous topics, and has appeared at conferences as a panel member on various health care subjects, including fraud and abuse, health law reform, and health care quality in nursing homes. Mr. Silverman has been a member of the Advisory Board for the BNA publication Health Care Fraud Report and was a member of the Steering Committee of the Health Law Section for the District of Columbia Bar. Mr. Silverman received his J.D. degree from Temple University School of Law, and is a member of the Pennsylvania and District of Columbia Bars. He is also a member of the United States Supreme Court, and has held past memberships in the International Bar Association, the London Court of International Arbitration and the National Association of Corporate Directors.
