Embracing the opportunity to gain valuable experience in a large commercially focused venue, I was primarily responsible for the day to day management and organisation of the staff and 1400 seater theatre itself.Duties and responsibilities- Leading the key teams responsible for the essential tasks of the business including Box Office, Front of House, Events and Bistro. Ensuring compliance with all relevant HR.- Building constructive relations with key external contacts for long term benefit to the business.- Effectively and efficiently managing teams to ensure key KPI’s are met, such as improvingcustomer satisfaction (through introduction of innovative training programmes) and increasingpackage sales (by closer collaboration with Marketing and Press).- Identifying strategic opportunities to maximise secondary sales, successfully done throughimplementation of a new programme of targeted POS.- Compiling and analysis of key administrative tasks such as Stock Take, Margin Calculator andMerchandise Settlements and implementing appropriate actions.- Ensuring full compliance across a spectrum of policies, such as Health and Safety, Sustainabilityand Risk Assessments to guarantee the safety of staff and the public.

A role which required political sensitivity due to the large number of stakeholders as a council owned venue, it refined my skills in people management, built my focus on the financials and expanded my experience in building and facilities maintenance. I successfully reduced the net costs to the council by 68% within 3 years. A complex mix of touring theatre and private hire.Duties and responsibilities- Constructing the 5 year business plan and successfully approved by all key stakeholders.- Analysing, monitoring and compiling Revenue and Capital Budgets of over £300k with regularreporting to the Committee and Management Boards for scrutiny.- Worked cross-functionally to increase footfall, awareness and revenues of the businessthrough a number of innovative projects and partnerships, e.g. Filmsmeet, Sharpe Academy.- Building productive relationships with Marketing and targeting the lean budgets for maximumreward which led to record breaking Pantomime sales and an increase in targets of 18%.- Identified and actioned Whole Life Costings programme and Capital Projects to ensure the long term sustainability of the venue, achieved through delicately managing the procurement tender process.- Leading a small core team ensuring a “team work” mentality for all whilst co-ordinating a large rota of casual and volunteer staff with responsibility for all HR requirements.
