Currently also responsible for computing across the school, the development of our virtual learning environment and online communication.I am a big fan of removing barriers to entry with technology, a big one being cost. I like to use and promote free and open source solutions so children can carry on learning easily at home. Google, Microsoft and Apple are not the centre of the universe and alternatives need credit!I also prefer to see children with a reading book rather than carrying an ipad. With young children especially technology should only be used where it is helping and not hindering education.I don't really engage with social media, LinkedIn included, so don't expect to see or hear much from me on here. Please do drop me an email for professional engagement.Excited by the growth of the #smartphonefreechildhood movement in recent years. I have been working in online safety with primary school children for over a decade. All the safety messages in school are dealt with well, but the attention-hungry addiction devices smartphones have become are simply not age appropriate. Children are missing out on meaningful real world play and engagement and retreating to a screen to fill too much of their social time. Revolution is needed! The Online Safety Act isn't enough.
