Cardiology

I have been a Cardiac Nurse Specialist for over 10 years with responsibility for the day to day running and management of the Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinic, DC Cardioversion service as well as supervision of the TOE and stress ECHO services too. I heavily patient focused reviewing and assessing over 1000 patients a year. I also support the non-invasive cardiac diagnostic service providing specialist Nursing support. My role includes the assessment and treatment of acutely presenting cardiac conditions with the A+E department too. I am an ALS instructor and support the Resuscitation Team within the hospital too. I am a Trust investigation officer and have completed a number of professional investigations.

I have been an ALS, ILS, GIC and ALERT instructor for many years. I teach in a variety of local Trusts as well as in London and the North East of England. I am well versed in the content of the course and its application to clinical practise.

Medical Education

I was part of the clinical skills team providing direct training to medical students and junior doctors as part of the Modernising Medical Careers Programme. Core competency training, skills and assessments were undertaken with some practical applications within the clinical setting. The role also helped with the Nursing training programme too.

Coronary Care Unit

I was the junior Charge nurse then Ward Manager of the busy Coronary Care Unit. This was a dedicated 8 bedded unit with 12 step down beds. The ward looked after all acute and critical cardiology patients within the diverse population of East London. I had 24 hour responsibility for the management of the ward and staff.

Oldchurch Hospital

I was a Cardiac Research Nurse for an extremely busy cardiac trial centre. We undertook phase 2,3 and 4 clinical trials for multi national companies. The trials included outpatient and acute cardiac conditions with the patients being followed up for many years.
