Responsible for the day to day management of a team of engineers designing all types of piles and secant/contiguous bored pile walls for Expanded Piling who are a UK based piling contractor installing all types of pile foundations. Major contracts completed as follows:Bishopsgate - London, Multi-storey development on large diameter rotary bored piles with undereams, designed piles and assisted with development of remote sensing equipment for checking of clay remould and laser guided kelly bar system eliminating need for man decent.No. 9 Dock - Devonport Dockyard, Plymouth, High capacity steel tube piles for dock wall stabilisation for seismic design condition. Redesign of rock sockets from conforming scheme eliminating undereams, client saving £1m.GCHQ - Cheltenham, Design of contiguous bored pile walls and bearing piles for deep basement construction to new headquarters.NEMSFAC - Devonport Dockyard, Plymouth, For a facilities building design of 20 metre deep sheet pile cofferdam and large diameter rotary bored piles.

Devonport Management manage the dock facilities at the UK's naval base in Plymouth, Devon. In the 1990's they had to implement a series of safety improvements to the dockyard for docking nuclear submarines. I was responsible for developing and managing the design and construction of a design solution to stabilise a 17 metre high quay wall at No. 10 Dock, Devonport adopting high capacity (300 t) rock anchors. The role required extensive liason with a variety of different regulatory authorities and interested parties.
