Mining and Rehabilitation

Core responsibilities & achievements ranged from:Personally promoted by Heinz Egnar, CFO at a time in the business when it was facing issues ranging from rapid growth with need of control to cultural integration of mining into a metals processing business; it was grappling with challenges like managing 8 mines in 6 different countries and considerable isolation of sites that needed to be integrated in corporate compliance requirements. Recognised as having a track record in change management and building a team at their largest smelter, to quality of advice given to the management group including advanced know-how relating to mining finance and operations; given the mandate to build a transparent mining group with ability to react quickly to changing market conditions.

Core responsibilities & achievements ranged from:• Managed Finance, Warehouse, Site Camp, IT, Logistics and procurement this also included staff manager housing and a 200 man camp in remote location.• Coorinatored a team of 23 people with 8 superintendent direct reports, spread over a large site with 2700 total employees with three mines, a processing plant and a smelter in the complex.• Manager of financial reporting for the whole site including smelter, This involved the complex metal accounting process for management reporting of all process flows from ore feed to finished materials.• Implemented a process for tracking finished materials both Smelter and processing plant with success in eliminating lossed experienced in the past, by implementing sampling protocols and enhancing reporting proceedures.• Managed the budget formulation for a three mines, including two open cut and one underground and culminated in the calculation of all costs and revenue (1.3 billion and a gross profit of 400 Mill) then presented this budget to the management in Madrid each year.• Controlled shared services department for Water, Power, Supply and Distribution, Rail for the whole site including the accounting for user based charging to each department.• Advised the management team and the executive general manager on preformance and financial reporting including reporting to the Zinc- Lead segment management in Madrid.• Responsible for final sign off of all statutory reports including the audit, reporting to the audit committee, with no major notes to the accounts recorded.

Core responsibilities ranged from: Managed a financial reporting team containing the consolidation of two seprate gold processing sites and 6 mines. With a total staff of 1200, this also included toll milling contracts from external companies. • Coordinated all management and financial reporting with analysis of preformance targets to a Sorbanes Oxley reporting standard.• Implemented a SAP ERP system to replace the two independent systems, with the setup of multipule warehousing points and departmental cost reporting for consumptions accross two separate sites and included cosolidation proceedures. Removal of internal transfers was a challanging part of this process.• Completed the budget, Reporting this to the commercial manager in Brisbane including full presentations ready for board approval.• Completed sustainability reporting for government consumtion as well as the audit for statutory accounting purposes.
