The firm of Inglis & Carr was established in March 1985. The new firm prospered during the succeeding years gaining expertise in the design of care homes, housing, churches, hotels, health and leisure, conservation and sustainable architecture. The practice has won numerous awards including first prize in the prestigious SDA / RIAS Regeneration of Scotland Design Awards for the restoration, conversion and extension of the South Church in Stirling to provide a church and conference centre.There have been numerous opportunities to work with or for high profile London-based practices including Young & Gault, PRP and Chetwoods on large scale residential, hotel and mixed-use projects in London, Manchester, Prague, Sochi, Moscow, Istanbul, Baku and other major world cities.

Worked across Chapman Taylor's UK business and led the residential team with a strong desire to foster an innovative approach to sustainable residential design balanced with best practice principles and sound commercial acumen. Generally divided working week between the London and Manchester offices.

Design & Build development company carrying out construction projects for housing associations and private clients. Most recently completed project was 14 houses for Arbroath-based Angus Housing Association. Houses are highly insulated with Greenskies solar hot water system.

Associate Director with PRP Architects, responsible for London projects, team leadership and expansion into Scotland with responsibility for new office establishment in Edinburgh.Client, contractor, consultant and statutory authority liaison on large projects up to £300,000,000.Responsibilities have included overseeing The £65Million Cheshire Extra Care pfi Project, comprising five new care villages, and a £100Million Shopping Centre redevelopment in London which includes a 27-storey residential tower.Public speaking and presentations as part of the business development role.Travelling regularly between London and Scotland.

Primarily responsible for London work including running of London office. Travelling regularly between London and Glasgow. Full involvement in design and construction of 4/5 star hotels and managerial involvement in airport hotels. Business development and establishing new contacts.

Responsible for student tuition and work assessment, constructive criticism of conceptual design and technology applications. Lectured on Building materials, their application, historic and current uses in architectural design. Visiting Assessor for 4th and 5th year work. Sponsored by Dundee Chapter of the RIAS to conduct a 'Design Night' at the university open to all and featuring personal work and award-winning projects.
