He is also the author of a range of other major works on screen industries, media and cultural policy and the creative industries. A distinguished professor of film, media and communication at Queensland University of Technology, he stays close to the industry, serving as a director of state screen agency Screen Queensland. He has been a board member of the-then Australian Film Commission and also served as foundation chair of QPIX, a state screen resource centre dedicated to assisting entry-level filmmakers.
