I am a well-respected, membership professional and fundraiser with more than 20 years experience in the charity sector. I cut my teeth as Membership Development Manager and Membership & Marketing Manager with Scottish Wildlife Trust where I was responsible for all aspects of Individual Giving – from direct mail to community fundraising events. This period of my career cemented my belief in the importance of exceptional stewardship of donors, from initial recruitment or conversion, upgrade and retention.As Director of Fundraising with OneKind I flourished. I was the first fundraiser employed in the organisation’s 100 year history, which until then survived solely on legacy income. I had to produce a Fundraising Strategy for OneKind which diversified the income stream, whilst importantly working to prepare the organisation ready to fundraise. I maintained my interest in Individual Giving, but also embarked on Trusts & Foundations fundraising, Corporate fundraising and Major Donor fundraising on behalf of OneKind. In many ways, the role of Fundraising Manager at Kilbryde Hospice was similar to the Director of Fundraising role at OneKind. I once again had to establish a professional fundraising infrastructure within the organisation and diversify the income stream.As Member Services Director with the Institute of Chartered Foresters I count upon all this experience to support membership growth in the UK's leading professional body for foresters and arboriculturists. I am responsible for the strategic development of member services, stewardship and professional development.
