I am a well-respected, membership professional and fundraiser with more than 20 years experience in the charity sector. I cut my teeth as Membership Development Manager and Membership & Marketing Manager with Scottish Wildlife Trust where I was responsible for all aspects of Individual Giving – from direct mail to community fundraising events. This period of my career cemented my belief in the importance of exceptional stewardship of donors, from initial recruitment or conversion, upgrade and retention.As Director of Fundraising with OneKind I flourished. I was the first fundraiser employed in the organisation’s 100 year history, which until then survived solely on legacy income. I had to produce a Fundraising Strategy for OneKind which diversified the income stream, whilst importantly working to prepare the organisation ready to fundraise. I maintained my interest in Individual Giving, but also embarked on Trusts & Foundations fundraising, Corporate fundraising and Major Donor fundraising on behalf of OneKind. In many ways, the role of Fundraising Manager at Kilbryde Hospice was similar to the Director of Fundraising role at OneKind. I once again had to establish a professional fundraising infrastructure within the organisation and diversify the income stream.As Member Services Director with the Institute of Chartered Foresters I count upon all this experience to support membership growth in the UK's leading professional body for foresters and arboriculturists. I am responsible for the strategic development of member services, stewardship and professional development.

The aim was simple - build South Lanarkshire's first in-patient palliative care hospice. I was responsible for the creation, implementation, monitoring and strategic development of all aspects of fundraising within Kilbryde Hospice. I produced Kilbryde Hospice's first ever Fundraising Strategy, a five year strategy aimed at diversifying the fundraising streams and increasing the income four-fold.I installed Kilbryde Hospice's first ever contact management database; and established more than 2,500 donor records in less than 12 months.As the sole fundraiser, I established a robust and professional fundraising infrastructure in Kilbryde Hospice and doubled community fundraising income in two years. At the same time, I produced in excess of 200 Trust and Foundation funding applications (totalling more than £2 million). In addition I recruited and stewarded seven corporate partnerships and was instrumental in securing two recurring six-figure pledges from two High Net Worth Individuals for Kilbryde Hospice.
