Tanzania

Moyo Gems is an ethical gemstone collaboration born in Tanzania. We are working with the female artisanal gem miners in the Umba/Tanga region to bring their beautiful gemstones from mine to market. We work in partnership with the Tanzanian Women Miners' Association (TAWOMA) to empower women miners to work safely, mine better, improve financial security, and create stable, equitable markets for fair trade.Alongside Anza Gems, we are the commercial partners for this project, tasked with trading fairly with the miners and promoting their gemstones to the international market.Our other partners on the project are Pact who provide much of the training and support resources and Everledger, our technology experts who are implementing innovative IT solutions to support the commercial activity.

Redweb was an award-winning, full-service digital agency. I was instrumental in developing the business, going beyond my initial remit of sales manager to a place on the board, defining the strategy for the agency and nurturing a fantastic team with whom we grew the business year on year and not just in the financial sense, but also increasing headcount from 20 to over 100. Morat Games was founded to provide online gaming services to telecommunications companies. We developed innovative technology to manage large-scale gaming communities for our customers' broadband networks. Our pilot installation built up a 10,000 member gaming community and we were in final negotiations for additional funding and delivering the service to organisations such as NTL when the internet crash arrived…I was responsible for business development, product definition, customer support, partnership & funding negotiations and finance.

KAN was a start-up digital agency providing bespoke website design & build, application development and hosting services to a wide range of clients. From very modest beginnings and with limited resources, I grew the business into a respected regional agency with over 50 clients.I had executive responsibility across all areas, including service definition, new business acquisition, account management, customer relations, marketing, recruitment, client support and training. KAN’s clients included the Cancer Research Campaign, BT, Cambridge Building Society, GE Smallworld, KBC Financial Products and the Internet Watch Foundation.
