I concentrate my practice on protecting individuals’ and businesses’ intellectual property in multi-claim actions for patent infringement, trademark and copyright infringement, unfair competition, misappropriation of trade secrets and false advertising. My patent litigation experience encompasses utility and design patents ranging in subject matter from jewelry designs to complex bio-mechanics, electrical engineering, locking mechanisms and systems, and several technologies within the automotive industry. I handle claim construction, the motions practice, and settlement strategy through trial. My prosecution practice involves counseling clients on trademark and copyright matters including rendering opinions on the clearance of or need to register intellectual property based on the business situation involved, initiating and completing registration, consulting and supervising Trademark Trial and Appeal Board opposition and cancellation proceedings, as well as assisting clients in negotiating and drafting intellectual property asset purchase agreements, work for hire agreements, joint development agreements and intellectual property licenses.I also have extensive appellate experience includes drafting and overseeing over 15 appeals to either the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals or Colorado Court of Appeals resulting in favorable results by the court’s decision or a reached settlement. In a case of first impression before the Colorado Court of Appeals, the court reversed the trial court decision and found my clients were statutorily immune from suit. In a case before the Tenth Circuit, the Court affirmed the lower Court, and agreed the appeal was frivolous awarding sanctions, damages, and double costs in favor of my client.

As an associate in the Appellate Group, I drafted appeals to the Colorado Supreme Court, Colorado Court of Appeals and the 10th Circuit, most of the time without involvement in the underlying case, focusing on the client's needs to either affirm or overturn a judgment. I also engaged in construction defect litigation, personal injury litigation,insurance coverage litigation and drafted coverage opinions upon investigation of insurance policies. A colleague and I began an Intellectual Property group at the firm working on trademark and copyright prosecution and transactions.

Drafted over 15 published opinions for the Judge after analyzing case law and the facts of cases with the Judge after live hearings, participated in in-depth discussions with the Judge concerning his perception of the law, facts of each case and his ultimate decisions, as well as attended and assisted with multiple trials.
